Our History

Roma D' Italia is Tustin's first and original Italian restaurant. Since our founding in 1961, the restaurant that our customers lovingly call "The Roma" has been an institution in the city of Tustin.

Great food is our living. In the 1960's, Dominic and Anna Corea began with a simple menu of pizza and pasta. In those days, spaghetti and meatballs were just $1.75 and pizza was our staple menu item. As years passed our menu has expanded and now includes a variety of appetizers, specialty seafood and pasta entrees, veal dishes, and an ever-growing wine list.

The Roma has seen many changes over the years. As the restaurant's popularity grew, so did our size, expanding from just one dining room to three. The family too has grown over the years. As time passed, the restaurant was handed down to the second generation of the Corea family - Tina, Louie, and Teresa- who have managed the restaurant for the last 20 years. As we now approach our fiftieth anniversary the baton is being passed onto the third generation, Dominic and Anna's six grandchildren, who can be seen regularly working at the restaurant. We hope that the future holds even more changes for the Roma and that all of our customers will be there to share these changes with us.

At Roma D' Italia, we take considerable pride in providing our customers with good food and a memorable dining experience. As one of the oldest restaurants in Orange County, we rely on our long-standing reputation of continued excellence and the loyalty of our customers to maintain our business. Customers are our highest priority and the only reason our doors have remained open all these years.

Our longtime customer Dr. Gray wrote an article many years ago that captures our early history well. You can view it here.
